Frequently Asked Questions

1. If I already have a therapist and a lawyer, why would I need a divorce coach?

Therapists focus on your emotional healing. Lawyers handle the legal side. Divorce coaching fills the gap between the two. I help you stay clear-headed, organized, and strategic—especially when emotions threaten to hijack good decisions. Think of me as the one who helps you show up to those other professionals more prepared, more grounded, and less overwhelmed.

2. Is this just another expense during an already expensive process?

Divorce coaching is often the support that prevents unnecessary expenses. When you’re more organized, less reactive, and clearer on your priorities, you avoid costly mistakes, drawn-out legal battles, and wasted energy. Many clients tell me that coaching paid for itself in the form of reduced attorney hours alone.

3. Can’t I just lean on friends and family for support?

Friends and family care about you, but they’re often emotionally involved—and not always equipped to offer the kind of practical, neutral guidance you need. Coaching gives you a calm, judgment-free space to sort through decisions and next steps without overburdening your personal circle or getting overwhelmed by conflicting advice.

4. What if I’m not even sure I want to get divorced?

That’s okay. Many of my clients come to coaching in a state of deep uncertainty. You don’t have to be sure to start. Coaching can help you untangle what you’re feeling, clarify what you need, and move forward—whether that means staying, leaving, or simply creating healthier boundaries.

5. How is this different from working with a mediator?

Mediators focus on resolving disputes between two parties. As your coach, I focus entirely on you. I help you get clear on what matters most, prepare for conversations and negotiations, and stay emotionally steady throughout the process. If you do work with a mediator, coaching often makes that process smoother and more effective.

6. Do you take insurance?

No. Divorce coaching isn’t covered by insurance because it’s not a licensed mental health service. While I’m a certified professional, coaching is considered a separate category—focused on strategic support, not clinical treatment. That said, many clients find the clarity, emotional relief, and reduced legal stress well worth the investment.

7. Do you work with couples?

Sometimes—but it depends on your situation. My primary work is with individuals who are navigating divorce or considering separation and need support in getting clear, grounded, and focused. That said, if you’re part of a couple in crisis and curious about coaching, let’s talk. We can use the discovery call to explore what kind of support makes the most sense.

8. How do I get started?

Start by scheduling a free discovery call. It’s a chance for us to talk through your situation, answer any questions you have, and see whether coaching is a good fit. If you decide to move forward, I’ll send you a simple coaching agreement to review and sign. From there, you’ll make your first monthly payment and schedule your first session at a time that works for you.
